| According to the Waste Disposal Act of Taiwan, fly ash is classified into hazardous waste, as results of TCLP experiment shows that heavy metal contents are over the maximum authorized limits. Therefore, fly ashes must be treated seriously. Nowadays, among the four treatment techniques: ¡§thermal plasma melting¡¨, ¡§cement solidification¡¨, ¡§stability solidification and ¡§extract with acid¡¨, ¡§cement solidification¡¨ is adopted by the most of the incineration plants in Taiwan. |

ChiaYi City
Solidification Plant was established in December
2002. Onyx Ta-Ho Environmental Services Company
was awarded the two-year operation and maintenance
contract in January 2003 and took over the plant
on April 1st 2003. On March 19th, 2004, the plant
was accredited with ISO 14001 certification. ChiaYi
Solidification Plant treats about 2,016 tons per
year fly ash and reaction product generated during
flue gas treatment process. Output quantity of solidification
is about 9 tons each day. |

After treatment, the heavy metal will be confined in the solidification, which prevents the hazardous substance polluting the environment and conforms to the criteria established in the regulation:
| 1. |
Compressive strength is greater than 10
kg/cm2. |
| 2. |
Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr+6,Cr, As and Cu
conform to the standard of TCLP. |
| 3. |
Bulk density is less than 1.5 g/cm3. |
